Sports and Activity Certificates
(Running, Cycling, Swimming, Triathlon)
Triathlon, and the three individual sports of which it is comprised, are hugely popular. Many athletes race both in the UK and abroad. Increasingly, such events require medical fitness certification from a doctor before allowing athletes to compete. This is particularly the case in France and Italy but also in some events in the UK.
The following events require medical certification:
Cross Channel Swimming
Cross Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation Medical
Paris Half Marathon
French Riviera Marathon
Mont Blanc Marathon
Disneyland Paris Half Marathon
Etape du Tour
Gran Fondo Marmotte Alps and Pyrenees
Haute Route Pyrenees, Alps, Alpe d’Huez, Ventoux
UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Albi
A medical certificate is recommended for the Tour of Flanders sportive, Roubaix Challenge and Liege Bastogne Liege Challenge although it is not mandatory.
Lake Garda Marathon
Gran Fondo Strade Bianche
Gran Fondo Stelvio
Gran Fondo San Remo-San Remo
Gran Fondo Milan San Remo
Gran Fondo Roma
Haute Route Dolomites
As of 2017, the level of medical examination for some of the events in Italy, such as the marathon events, is more comprehensive. Typically the following are required
Full Medical Exam
Complete Urine Test
ECG at Rest
Without the necessary medical documentation, you will not be allowed to compete.
For simple medicals, we only charge the cost of our express private GP consultation (usually £75). If the medical takes longer than a standard consultation, the fee may be a little higher, depending on the exact medical requirements. If you can send us a copy of your form, we can usually notify you of the cost before going ahead with the medical.
Booking your appointment Visit our online booking system below and select 'Sporting Medical'. Please state the type of sports medical you require on the booking form.
It is helpful if you can email us a copy of your medical form before the appointment.
